There are a number of resources available to help you to dig deeper into the story of Viking Woodstown.

  • The excavations which took place at the site have now been published and the book is titled: Woodstown: A Viking-Age Settlement in Co. Waterford (Russell & Hurley eds, 2014). This publication contains in-depth analysis of the site and its artefacts by a variety of international experts who look at what the Woodstown discoveries can reveal about the Vikings in Ireland. It can be downloaded for free from the  Digital Repository of Ireland .
  • In 2014, Abarta Heritage, on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland produced an audio book as an accessible companion to the Woodstown publication that can be accessed here.

  • In 2019/2020 Abarta Heritage researched and wrote the Viking Woodstown Conservation Management Plan. This plan is informed by consultation and best practice and the previous work, reports and guidance of the Woodstown Viking Site Steering Committee. The plan details the significance of Woodstown, and it offers a research strategy that will form a pathway to a better understanding of the site and its context.
