One of the key landmark events of Viking Woodstown is the annual Aonach na nDéise, a free, family orientated two day Heritage Festival of Viking re-enactment which takes place alongside the Woodstown Viking Site during Heritage Week each year. The wonderful historical reenactment group Déise Medieval, together with colleagues from elsewhere in Ireland, Scandinavia and Britain, recreate a viking village, with demonstrations of battles and combat techniques from the period. You can also see demonstrations of archaeological practice, and hear from the Discovery Programme and National Museum of Ireland.
